Pix-Star is owned by Spheris Digital Ltd, founded in 2000 in Hong Kong and Beijing. The company develops Linux-based solutions for mobile phones. Since 2006 Spheris Digital has specialized in its own brand of online communicating frames for digital photos (wireless digital frames). In 2008, these frames became available in the United States.

Awards

Pix-Star wireless digital frames were awarded the ICT China award in 2008 and LAPTOP Magazine's award for best web frame in 2009.

The Frame with an Email Address

The company designs, manufactures and sells connected wireless photo frames and pioneered the concept of "the frame with an email address." Team members combine more than 20 years of experience in the fields of telecom, software and web design. They have long been involved in the development of products and concepts combining wireless technology and innovative web service applications.

Sharing Moments with Friends and Family

These wireless digital frames are designed to help friends and family members easily share their best moments in a simple and seamless way using the power of the Internet. This is done with an innovative approach combining a photo frame with a free website to provide support for the frame. The main objective of the company is to facilitate picture sharing between people and among families, especially for people that are not computer-savvy.

The website features more than a dozen demonstration videos explaining various aspects of its products and its website. These include a product overview and tutorials on features such as receiving photos by email and accessing web albums.

These frames are high-quality, simple to set up and easy enough for any member of the family to use and understand. The company offers a selection of 2 digital frames. Both have Wi-Fi and Email capabilities. One (reviewed on this site) has UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and SAMBA for connecting to home networks wirelessly.

Android App

An app for these frames for Android phones and tablets can be found free on the Android Market. Once installed it can access frame content stored inside the website as well as all RSS albums such as Picasa, Flickr, Facebook, etc. that have been linked to a frame.

It is even possible to access several of the frames with this app. A slideshow can be configured featuring photos from registered frames can be enjoyed on a mobile phone or tablet. In camera mode on the mobile phone, pictures can be directly sent to the frames that are configured inside the app. The app can be accessed by clicking here.
