SUPPORTED AUDIO FILES for DIGITAL FRAMES
Multi-Media Digital Frames
The capability to read audio files that can be found in many digital frames allow them to play music as well as display pictures!
If this is a "must have" feature, then a multimedia photo frame is for you!
MP3--The Standard Format for Audio
For multimedia photo frames, MP3 (MPEG Layer 3 Audio) is standard for two reasons...the highly compressed or low file size and the relatively high quality of sound.
Other Audio Formats
There are some frames that can also play .wma files (Windows Media Audio). This is the format widely used on the Internet.
Another format is the .wav (Windows WAVE Sound). These particular files are usually very big and not widely used, especially for sharing on the Internet.
The following are some other files that are supported:
.aif-Audio Interchange File
Converting Other File Formats to MP3
For those who have not had a lot of experience with downloading MP3 tunes or have tried unsuccessfully to use music from a CD or a DVD on a digital frame, take heart! It is actually quite an easy task.
I enjoy using the music from my favorite CD albums with my frames. The Internet offers a good number of programs, many free of charge, that will convert music files to MP3 formats.
The one I happen to use is dBpoweramp Music Converter which can be found at www.dbpoweramp.com. With this particular product, either one track or a whole disk can be converted at once with minimum setup.
Each digital frame has a use, but once you have experienced the delight of a slideshow accompanied by music, you may never again go back to one that just displays photos.
